Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year 2019 falls on Tuesday, February 5 beginning a year of the Pig. We our celebrating Chinese New Year with all the children. Chinese New Year or ‘Spring Festival’ is China’s most important festival and holiday time. The main Chinese New Year activities include putting up decorations, eating reunion dinner with family on New Year’s Eve, firecrackers and fireworks, and giving red envelopes and other gifts.

We will be planning our activities over the next couple of weeks around Chinese New Year and learning all about the Chinese culture and having the opportunity to learn first hand their new year traditions. We would love to hear about any celebrations that you might be partaking in at home and ask if you would like to share these through Tapestry.

Staff Changes

We would like to welcome Tracey who will be based within our lower-preschool unit working alongside Stacey and the team. Tracie has had 20 years’ experience working within Early Years and is highly trained within the special educational needs sector. Tracey has previously worked within primary schools leading phonic, literacy and numeracy sessions we are pleased that she has joined our team here at Learning Curve.

We would also like to welcome Melissa, Melissa will be in pre-school on a Monday all day covering Ben who will be based at our sister Nursery Bluebell Lodge for the day. Ben is helping to develop our sport programme and is supporting sport training with the sport development officers at Bluebell Lodge over the next few months, Ben will however be back as of every Tuesday for the rest of the week. Melissa has worked for Learning Curve Nursery group for 7 years. She is currently finishing her BA Hons in Early childhood studies and has previously supported sport sessions at our sister nursery Clifton Lodge.

World Book Day

World Book Day is on the Thursday 7th March. All the children are invited to come dressed as their favourite story character on the Thursday 7th to celebrate the magical world of storytelling. Throughout the week all our activities will be based around different stories and book themes. We would love to hear all about the stories you read at home too.

Nursery Uniform

Don’t forget you can purchase our nursery uniform online at: There is a range of pre-school supplies you can purchase from nursery t-shirts, jumpers, trousers and skirts to nursery bags all with our nursery logo on.

Nursery Fees

Just a gentle reminder that nursery fees are to be paid in advance on the 1st of every month. Please can you ensure that your standing orders, tax free childcare accounts and vouchers are set for this date. Any late payments will now result in a £10 late fee charge automatically being added to your account.
