World Book Day

World Book Day is Thursday 1st March. Children and staff are invited to dress up as their favourite character and bring the book into nursery. A main aim of World Book Day in the UK is to encourage children to explore the pleasures of books and reading. Here are some examples of different costumes, which can be found at Home Bargains, Asda, Tesco and eBay.

Characteristics Of Effective Learning

Characteristics of effective learning is a tool to enable us, as practitioners to understand and establish how your child learns to help us plan for their future activities and experiences. The key areas of these characteristics are – Playing and exploring, active learning and creating and thinking critically.

Playing and exploring – The nursery environment needs to be stimulating which encourages children to play and explore within every area of provision

Active Learning – An environment which is led by the child’s interests will enable them to become active learners. Being able to concentrate on tasks of interest and showing a can-do attitude contributes towards this area of learning.

Creative and thinking critically – Practitioners provide plenty of opportunities for children to develop problem solving skills, knowing when to intervene and scaffold their learning.

Child Details

It is important that you keep us informed of any changes to your child’s details, i.e. address, etc. Please can all parents ensure that all your child’s details are up to date. If you require any new forms please collect them from Katie in the office. If you haven’t been able to attach photos to the ‘People who are allowed to collect me form’ you can email your photos to nursery here.

Drop Off & Pick Up Times

When leaving the nursery please ensure you are not letting anyone into the setting without a member of staff present. This is due to safeguarding and management knowing who is in the building at all times.

Collection

We are currently collecting ribbon, purses, bags, empty perfume bottles and boxes, empty chocolate boxes, used cards and envelopes.
