Butterfly Lodge Newsletter July 2018

Summer Fair

This year our Summer Fair will be held on Saturday 14th July. The fair will be held at AKS Lytham, Clifton Drive South, Lytham St Annes, FY8 1DT. We do hope you can join us for this fantastically, fun filled day. We will be holding various stalls such as Raffle, Tombola’s, Hook-a-duck, Face painting, Yard games plus so much more! Over the coming weeks we will be holding some dress up days for donations for our Prize tombola and bottle tombola stalls. During our Summer Fair we will be holding our Preschool Graduation, to ensure the day runs effectively each setting will be allocated a time which their graduation will take place. Butterfly Lodge’s graduation time is 3:15pm, if we could kindly ask, please can all preschool children graduating be at the Pavilion for 3:00pm, this will give staff time to get children ready in their graduation hats and gowns. There will be a grass area for parent/carers and family members to sit and enjoy the graduation.

Tapestry

Observation changes Over the coming months we will be adding a variety of headings to the entries made on your child’s tapestry. In future the following headings will be used when observing the children. Newsflash – This is a weekly entry like a diary entry about an activity your child enjoyed taking part in during their nursery week. WOW moment – These moments will maybe added when your child has achieved for the first time or mastered something. I.e. separating from their main carer for the first time without any tears. Observation – These will be in the form of a detailed observation that may follow an adult led activity. These may appear in your child’s tapestry every 4 – 6 weeks.

Beach Schools

We love beach schools!

At our first beach schools session discussed what we know about the beach and our past experiences, and then we spoke about what we might see.

First of all, we played a ring game where we had to make sure the jelly fish wasn’t caught! We ran really fast and used relevant terminology to allow the children to think about all things beach related.

After this, we went to go and explore the beach. The children were all given a bucket to put their treasures in and given time to roam around the beach. On the sand were jelly fish which had been washed up from the sea. These type of jelly fish were call Moon Jelly Fish. We learnt all about them and some of us even managed to touch it. Also we found lots of different objects including shells, pebbles and sea weed! We are so super excited for our next session.

Keeping It Cool

It is still so lovely and warm, so it’s very important to ensure that children have sun cream and sunhats. Please can you ensure children have sun cream on before nursery so they are able to go straight out well protected. We have been ensuring the children have access to cold water and ice pops as well to keep them nice and cool. Also for our lovely parents and carers there is cold water and cups as the entrance as we know how busy you are so it helps keep you hydrated on busy times.
