Butterfly Lodge Newsletter – Autumn 2020

SEPTEMBER – DECEMBER 2020

Welcome back Everyone 😊

What is New at Nursery and Covid-19 Updates

As you may have realised, we are currently gaining permission from all parents to allow us to go back out on walks. 😊 We have planned a walk route round the quite streets next to Butterfly Lodge which means the risk of infection from passes by is low. The Pre-school will start to do this, focusing on finding letters and numbers all around the streets on cars, doors and signs. trailed this walk last week and thoroughly enjoyed it.

As the weather will begin to change and the Autumn months approach, we are asking all our parents to ensure all the children have the following each day:

  • Winter hat
  • Gloves
  • Scarves
  • Winter coats
  • Wellies

We are also asking all parents to ensure the children are wearing warmer clothes such as thermal jumpers, vests, trousers, cardigans, socks etc due to the fact the nursery will be continuing to keep all our windows open to ensure we have good ventilation coming into the rooms. This is to help continue keep the virus at bay as research shows poor ventilation in confined indoor spaces is associated with increased transmission of respiratory infections. We will also as normal continue to have some of our lessons outside such as our sport sessions and garden activities. 😊

Staff Changes

Shaneen is our new Deputy Manager who will be supporting Tracie as well as all the rooms. Shaneen has been working within Learning Curve for over 3 years and started her journey at Butterfly lodge, moving to Lytham lodge when it first opened and now returning to Butterfly Lodge to be the Deputy Manager. Shaneen has her Foundation degree in Early Childhood studies and has a passion for all ages of children. Shaneen is not based within a room to allow her to give support to all the rooms within Butterfly.

Charlotte is our new Pre-school Co-ordinator working alongside Carl and Julie and Sammie. Charlotte has a passion for Pre-school and has been working with children for over 7 years and has lots of great ideas!!

We also have Olivia, who is one of our new Level 3 under 2s nursery practitioners. Olivia has worked with nursery children and supported children with gymnastics skills within a school setting.

We have a new modern apprentice member of staff Hannah, she will be our sports coach who will be based in lower- preschool. We will also have Ellie who is also a new modern apprentice member of staff who will be based within the 0-2’s room.

We will still be celebrating harvest at the end of September; our nursery activities and lessons plans will still be themed around harvest and Autumn. We will still be accepting donations of food which this year we will be donating to our local food bank.

Covid-19 has seen lots of our wonderful events get cancelled over the summer and we are not prepared to let it cancel any more of our events. Our annual Halloween and Christmas story nights will still continue and to ensure we are adhering with all government guidelines we will be planning a night where you can watch our stories via Facebook. We would love for you all to come online and watch our stories delivered by our lovely staff.
