JANUARY – APRIL 2021
Welcome back Everyone, we hope you had a lovely Christmas and New Year.
Many thanks to all of our families for their continued patience and for adhering to the routines and procedures which have been implemented due to Covid-19. As we enter January’s new term, some of these procedures will remain place. We will continue to use a ‘Bubble’ system, minimising the mixing of children and staff, and children will continue to be dropped off and collected at the door, please be aware of the floor markers which comply with the social distancing measures. We also ask that children continue to leave their nursery bags here where possible. May we also remind parents that children are not permitted to bring toys into nursery with them. Please can we ask that only one parent drops their child off at nursery and picks up. This is to help with social distancing with staff and other parents as well as minimising contact with others.
As the weather very unpredictable at the moment, and we would like to continue to enjoy our lovely garden areas, we are asking all parents to ensure all the children have the following each day:
- Winter hat
- Winter coats
- Change of clothes
Please can you ensure these are clearly labelled with your child’s name so we can reunite any lost items.
We are also asking all parents to ensure the children are wearing warmer clothes such as thermal jumpers, vests, trousers, cardigans, socks etc due to the fact the nursery will be continuing to keep all our windows open to ensure we have good ventilation coming into the rooms. This is to help continue keep the virus at bay, as research shows poor ventilation in confined indoor spaces is associated with increased transmission of respiratory infections. We will also, as normal, continue to have some of our lessons outside, such as our sport sessions and garden activities.
Spring Term Parents Evening
Our Spring term parents evening will be being held from Monday 22nd March 2021. We will be arranging zoom meetings in the daytime which can be booked in the office with Charlotte or Nicole on 01253 407172. We will be taking booking as of Monday 15th March ready for the following week.
World Book Day 2021
This year world book day is on Thursday 4th March. All the children are invited to come dressed as their favourite story character and throughout the week we will be theming our activities around our favourite stories and rhymes. This year we would love for parents to get involved too. We would appreciate if you could pop some pictures on tapestry of your little one reading their favourite stories, this is so we can make sure we incorporate these into our World Book Day activities and provides us with a great talking point with your little ones to talk about their favourite stories.
Staffing – Meet Our Teams
As we go into the new term, and many children are transitioning into new rooms; please find below the current staffing arrangements for each room.
Staff Member of the Year – Congratulations Heather!
Our Employee of the Year 2020 award goes to Heather our Early Years Educator in the Toddler Room! Heather is such a fun, creative, and caring member of our team, and nothing is ever too much to ask. She has fantastic bonds with all the children in the Toddler room and is continuously enhancing all areas of provision to meet their current interests and needs. Heather always goes above and beyond to ensure there is lots of fun to have at nursery! Heather was surprised with this award in December by our nursery Area Managers Lisa and Katie, during Bluebell’s virtual Christmas zoom quiz. Well done Heather!
“It’s a small world” Spring Term Project
This term Learning Curve Nursery have been set a challenge named ‘It’s a small World’, each site has been given a country to research and Bluebell Lodge have been assigned Germany. The competition is made up of three tasks- completing artwork, sharing experiences on social media, and taking part in a music and dance performance, all linked to Germany. During this
competition we want to provide children with as many different experiences such as German food, the history of famous German buildings along with German children story books. If any parents have any fun facts, they would like to share with us, please post them on Tapestry or inform your child’s key worker.
Home Learning Activity
After such great success last Spring when learning about Native America in our “It’s a small world topic”; we have decided to bring it back again due to high demand and interest from both children and parents. This year we have been given the country Germany to explore. Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, also known as the “Grimm Brothers” are authors of the traditional tale, Hansel and Gretel which originates from Germany. We are asking parents if they would like to participate in our Home Learning activity by creating your very own representation of the famous models within the story Hansel and Gretel. These will be displayed within the nursery and a little prize will be given to each child that takes part.
