Bluebell Lodge Newsletter November 2018

Halloween & Pumpkin Competition

Hope you all had a Happy Halloween. The children enjoyed the many activities they had planned for them over the Halloween period from baking Halloween cakes and biscuits to meeting a variety of creepy crawlies, some of them were brave enough to hold them. Thank you to everybody that took part in this year’s pumpkin competition, it was amazing seeing the assorted designs and craftsmanship.

Outside Play In Winter

Children of all ages enjoy and benefit from playing outdoors in all except the most extreme weather. Daily outdoor play is healthy and burns energy. It gives children an opportunity for a change of environment, a balance in play and routine, large muscle activities (gross-motor development). Even children who are mildly ill but active should go outside if the weather is not severe. Staff and children alike will feel refreshed when fresh air is part of the daily routine. Taking children outdoors daily, even in winter, can be a healthy part of their schedule, and is safe when clothing is appropriate. Now the weather is getting colder can you ensure that your child has a warm coat, hat, scarf and gloves.

Harvest Festival

Well done to all the children and staff for carrying out a wonderful Harvest Festival to share with the parents/carers. Thank you to everybody who attended it was a brilliant success and fun was had by all. The children enjoyed sharing their special service with you after working hard during practices. We would also like to thank everyone for their kind Harvest donations; these were taken to Lindale Methodist Church with us on the day of our harvest festival as our donation to the local community. Lindale Methodist Church is working together with Blackpool food bank for our local area to support children living below the poverty line, which is where our donations will be going, so again, a big thank you for all your donations, it was very much appreciated.

Learning Curve Awards Evening

In December all five of our nurseries are coming together to celebrate a fantastic and successful year. During this celebratory evening we have the chance to win some awards and you as parent/carers can help us with these, these awards are as follows:

Community Connector award:

The first award will recognise a nursery team or practitioner that has reached out into our local community and made a difference. Whether that is pre-school children visiting a local nursing home or grandparents/families being invited in to read stories. It would be lovely for everyone to hear how this made a difference to everyone involved.

Nursery of the year award:

This award will recognise all four nursery teams for the hard work and dedication throughout the year. Is there something we have done here at Bluebell Lodge that has made a difference or impacted your child and family in a positive way? The winner will receive a trophy for the nursery team of the year. Be sure to fill out a nomination form and explain why you feel our nursery should win the nursery of the year award.

Inclusive practice award:

This award will look at how nursery teams and practitioners support children that need additional support. This could be how practitioners support children with additional needs or children with English as an additional language etc. This award could also be for a practitioner who has supported your child to adjust to nursery life and adapted parts of the nursery routine to help children settle in. Tell us if you feel that a practitioner from our setting is doing this particularly well.

Healthy lifestyle award:

This award will look at how the nursery team or an individual practitioner has supported children and individuals to develop a healthier lifestyle. This could be a practitioner whom has supported your child with their eating? or helped a child with bedtime routines? Again, it would be lovely to hear form everyone with success stories.

Each one of these awards are a huge achievement and vital recognition for our staff team, we would really love for our parent/carers to get involved and support us with these, if you feel we qualify for any of the above awards please fill out a nomination slip. Nomination slips for these awards can be picked up from the main building corridor or from the office with Anne. Thank you for your continuing support throughout the year.
